Lamb of God

Lesson One: The Lamb Was Foretold
• From the moment sin entered the world, God began revealing his plan to redeem humanity through a sacrificial Lamb. Every sacrifice, every Passover, and every prophecy pointed forward to Jesus Christ.
• When John the Baptist declared, “Behold, the Lamb of God,” he wasn’t introducing a new idea—he was announcing the fulfillment of God’s promise that had been unfolding since the Garden of Eden.

Leviticus 17:11, For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life.

.

Key Scriptures

  • Genesis 3:21 – God clothes Adam and Eve with garments of skin.
  • Genesis 22:8 – “God Himself will provide the lamb.”
  • Exodus 12:13 – The blood of the Passover lamb.
  • Isaiah 53:7 – “Like a lamb led to the slaughter.”

Teaching Truths

  • God planned redemption from the very beginning.
  • The Old Testament sacrificial system pointed to Jesus.
  • Jesus is God’s final and perfect Passover Lamb.

Application

God doesn’t improvise salvation—He fulfilled a promise centuries in the making. You can trust the Savior because He is the fulfillment of God’s eternal plan.

.

Lesson Two: The Lamb Was Offered

  • Jesus willingly became the spotless sacrifice that every Old Testament lamb foreshadowed. His death was not an accident but the once-for-all payment that satisfied God’s justice and opened the way for sinners to be reconciled to God.
  • The blood on Israel’s doorposts caused judgment to pass over them. Today, it is the blood of Christ applied by faith that brings forgiveness and eternal life.

John 1:29, The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

.

Key Scriptures

  • 1 Peter 1:18-19 – The precious blood of Christ, a Lamb without blemish.
  • 1 Corinthians 5:7 – “Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed.”

Teaching Truths

  • Jesus is the spotless substitute for sinners.
  • His sacrifice fulfilled and ended the Old Testament sacrificial system.
  • Salvation is received by faith in Christ’s finished work—not by human effort.

Application

Our hope is never found in our performance but in Christ’s perfection. Forgiveness belongs to everyone who places their faith under the blood of the Lamb.

.

Lesson Three: The Lamb is exalted.

  • The Lamb who was slain is now at the very center of heaven’s worship. The cross was not the end of his story—it was the pathway to his throne.
  • Jesus transformed the Passover meal into the promise of an even greater feast—the wedding supper of the Lamb, where God’s redeemed people will celebrate his victory forever.

Revelation 5:11-14, Then I looked, and I heard the voices of many angels encircling the throne, and the living creatures and the elders. And their number was myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands. In a loud voice they were saying: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing!” And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power forever and ever!” And the four living creatures said, “Amen,” and the elders fell down and worshiped.

.

  • Revelation 19:6-9 – The wedding supper of the Lamb.
  • Luke 22:18 – “I will not drink again…until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.”
  • Philippians 2:9-11 – Every knee will bow and every tongue confess.

Teaching Truths

  • The Lamb is the centerpiece of heaven’s worship.
  • Christ’s sacrifice accomplished an eternal victory.
  • Everyone who trusts in Christ is invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb.

Application

The focus of heaven is the Lamb—and the focus of our lives should be the same. Live today in grateful worship, knowing that one day you will gather around His table and celebrate His victory forever.
