Passionate About People

BACK TO THE START               WEEK 2: PASSIONATE ABOUT PEOPLE                  STUDY GUIDE

Main Idea: We are called to be passionate about people because Jesus is passionate about people.

Key Scripture: Luke 18:28-30

Key Principles: THE COST OF HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS

  1. Time.
  2. Intentionality
  3. Love.

Discussion Questions:

Read Luke 18:28-30. These verses point to God’s promise that in Christ, we gain a brand new family.

  • What keeps you from seeing other Christians as family? Is it because you feel that it is too costly?

Read Mark 6:28-30, Matthew 4:18-22, and John 15:9-12. In these passages, Jesus demonstrates the cost associated with having healthy relationships.

  • Do you typically create time in your schedule to nurture your relationships? If not, what keeps you from doing so?
  • Are you typically intentional in pursuing and nurturing relationships or do you just “let it happen”?
  • Do you truly value Christian relationships in your life and are you willing to pour into those relationships to see them become what God desires them to be?
  • Do you struggle to put others 1st in your relationships? If so, why do you think this is?
  • Jesus said that our brothers and sisters in Christ are family, and as such, we are to love them with the same love that he has shown to us. This love forms the basis and call to be in community with one another. How does this impact your decision to be involved in pursuing relationships within the Church? If applicable, what keeps you from being a part of a Life Group?

Next Steps: What steps can you take to create time, have intentionality, and show love in your relationships today?

  • Ask God to reveal the areas in your relationships where you are failing.
  • Identify the relationships in your life that you value and desire to pour into.
  • Review your schedule and create time to nurture a relationship this week.
  • Be intentional—using your time well to connect with others and love them as Jesus has loved you.

Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.

  • Father, help me to put myself 2nd and love others the way that you have loved me.
