Come and Behold Him

Come and Behold Him

Key Scriptures: Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Lesson One: Everyone is invited into the kingdom of God.

Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Lesson Two: When you call on Jesus, you find rest.
• In true humility we find rest for our souls.

Matthew 11:28-30, Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

2 Corinthians 5:17, If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

Lesson Three: Jesus helps us to become more faithful.
• We may not be faithful, but God always is!

Hebrews 12:2, Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and the perfecter of our faith.

Romans 10:17, Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Isaiah 43:2-3, When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.

Lesson Four: Jesus helps us to become more joyful.
• Happiness depends on happenings but joy depends on Jesus

Galatians 5:22-23, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Luke 2:8-11, And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.

Lesson Five: Jesus helps us to become more triumphant.

Isaiah 9:6-7, For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever.
