A Call to Purity

CALLED INTO RIGHTEOUSNESS             WEEK 3 : A CALL TO PURITY                  STUDY GUIDE

Key Scripture: 1 Peter 1:13-16

Key Principles: 3 ways to live like our goal is God’s holiness

  1. Prepare for obedience.
  2. Hope in Christ.
  3. Embrace our identity.

Discussion Questions:

Read 1 Peter 1:13-16.

• What does it mean to you to live a life that is set apart for the singular purpose of glorifying God?

• Discuss our responsibility to be prepared for obedience and to be self-controlled. Why do those things matter?

• How do you go about “preparing your mind for action?” How do you practice self-control?

• Can you think of an area of your life that is not set apart and surrendered to God? What keeps you from surrendering?

•  In what way is the grace that we now experience in Christ not the final and fullest expression of grace?

• How does future grace empower us to live holy lives?

• Why is it important that we understand that Christian living in a non-Christian world is grounded in knowing our identity, valuing it, and allowing it to define who we are and how we will live in this world?

• How can this group help you to live your life set apart for the singular purpose of glorifying God?

Next Steps: What steps can you take to live like your goal is God’s holiness this week?

• Take some time to truly prepare your mind so that you are spiritually focused, alert and ready for action.

• Keep your eyes on the prize. We fight for holiness, trusting in the promise that one day Jesus will return and we will experience the fullness of God’s grace.

• Embrace your identity. You have been given a new identity in Christ. Holiness is who you are. Strive to live every moment to imitate the holiness of God right now.

Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.

• Father, in Christ I have everything I need to live a life set apart for You. Help me to embrace who I am in You today.
