Key Scriptures: Jeremiah 17:5-8
This is what the Lord says: “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord. That person will be like a bush in the wastelands; they will not see prosperity when it comes. They will dwell in the parched places of the desert, in a salt land where no one lives. “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
.
Lesson One: We gain confidence through revelation of who God is.
• Spiritual revelation produces faith and faith enables us to be bold
Psalm 20:7, Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
Psalm 27:1, The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?
Proverbs 18:10-11, The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. The wealth of the rich is their fortified city; they imagine it a wall too high to scale.
.
Lesson Two: We gain confidence by remembering God’s faithfulness.
• When we remember the faithfulness of God—we are able to cash in on the belief that we need to be bold in the moment
Deuteronomy 7:9, Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.
Psalm 100:5, For the Lord is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting and His faithfulness to all generations.
Hebrews 10:23, Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.
