Planted

Key Scripture: Psalm 92:12-15

Key Principles:

  1. Your life is a seed.
  2. When you are planted, your roots will grow deep.
  3. When you are planted, your life will produce fruit.

Discussion Questions:

• In your words, how would you describe being planted at PCN?

• Why do you think it’s so easy to think of church as not much more than a building or weekend activity?

Read Psalm 92:12-15 and Jeremiah 17:8.

• What do you think it is about being planted in the house of God—in the Church—that leads people to flourish?

• Can you share some experiences that have completely changed how you view your role in the Church? How has this change led to an increase in the amount of spiritual fruit that you produce?

• Jesus said in John 15:2, “Every branch in me that bears no fruit, he takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, he prunes it, that it may bring forth more fruit.” It is the responsibility of the branch to stay connected to the vine. What prevents you from connecting to the things of God and from being planted at PCN?

• What caused you to take the step of joining a Life Group? In what ways have you seen an increase in the fruit in your life as a result in being planted in community?

• Do you have room to become more rooted and planted in our church? What might be in your way?

• Read Matthew 11:28-30. How do these passages from Psalm 92 and Jeremiah 17 relate to Jesus’ words here in Matthew 11?

Next Steps: Commit to living out your faith this week.

• If you haven’t yet, check painesvillenaz.org/groups/ to see where you might get connected here at PCN.

• If you haven’t yet, volunteer to use your gifts to bless others in the name of Jesus.

Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.

• God, we don’t want to just go to church, we want to be Your Church. We’re are all so different and you brought us together, in so many different ways, to grow and flourish where you plant us. We ask you to give us the courage to keep putting our roots deep in the places that you lead us. In Jesus’ name, amen.
