Like My Father

Key Scriptures: Ephesians 5:1-2

Therefore, be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Lesson one: AWAKEN to who you are and whose you are.
• Before you can become like God, you have to know who you are in God

Genesis 1:27, So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

Genesis 2:7, The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

2 Corinthians 5:16-17, So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

2 Peter 1:3-4, His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

.

Lesson Two: ACCEPT the responsibility of growing up.
• We have a responsibility to grow in likeness of Christ and to try to help other people come to know Him

Ephesians 5:2, And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

.

Lesson Three: ADOPT a lifestyle of modeling our Heavenly Father
• Discipleship is a life-long lifestyle of modeling Christ

Ephesians 4:20-24, That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
